Smith Design principal, Mark David Smith, started his career in design in the early eighties after graduating from one of the world's leading colleges of art, design, and architecture, Pratt Institute in New York City. He also studied with Milton Glaser at the School of Visual Arts. He worked for several prestigious graphic design firms in Manhattan including Chermayeff & Geismar, and in-house communications design departments at McGraw Hill, Chase Manhattan Bank and Morgan Stanley, to name a few.
After a decade of working in New York Mark moved to Maine where he established Smith Design. After working in Maine for nearly 30 years, he has designed brands and graphic design projects for wide array of clients.
Mark is a member of the national organization for design – AIGA, and Squarespace Circle, a professional web design group specializing in the Squarespace content management system. He has instructed graphic design courses at the Maine College of Art.
Mark is a huge fan of fine art, music, nature, cooking, motorcycles, and Downeast Maine.
